Back in the beginning of 2006 just before my second son Ian was born, I quit my job as a Creative Director / Graphics Manger, started going to college, quit playing in bands so I could do more of my solo stuff, and moved for the 4th time since we had come to Utah, my blog was drawing near to its peak, with little under 500 views within a given month. That may not seem like a lot compared to some out there but it was good seeing as how I had just moved it over from Blogspot and a year or two before that from LiveJournal. Anyways what I am trying to say is I like to start things… Especially new things…. Creating things from the ground up is probably the funnest thing I can think of outside of spending time with God, being with my wife, and playing with my kids. So, that being said., I like to start blogs over. And maybe I do that a little too much, but hey if you can’t do that than why even have one.
Just so you know.., my life changes a lot. Not as much as it did before I got married and had kids, but ever since that awesome day back in 2004, things have been getting more regular and stable for me. Since I am going to be starting my first class in the major I had always wanted (theology / divinity), I think it is about time to get serious about writing again and get this thing going (again). A lot of my views have changed over the past few years and that is why I have decided that I think I will give this one a fresh kick and clean her up a bit. Kind of like how I like to shave my head when it gets to a certain length so I can do the whole beard matching the length of my hair thing. So here I go again. Clippers are on and this time I’m going to take down to 0..
Last off, with my start of school at Spurgeon’s College I have decided, after much prayer, to start the gathering phase for my core group that will, one day, God willing, become His church plant here (or there) or wherever he leads. If there is one thing these Northern Utah towns need it is Christ, as well as in every other town in the Intermountain West. This Region is one of the most densely populated Mormon areas in all of the U.S. with, I believe, one if not the lowest percentage of evangelicals anywhere in the nation. If the demographics I got from NAMB are right we are at less than a percent in most northern cities like Bountiful and it gets even lower the further you go to the north until you hit Ogden and then we start to register on the map a little bit, but by no more than 2%. In Farmington, the city where I live, it is 0 Christian churches vs. at least 1 LDS ward building, housing at least 3 services, every quarter to half mile, thru the whole of our city. If that is not ripe planting ground I don’t know what is. Most of these wonderful people have no clue what it means to know the God of the Bible and need to be shown Jesus. I just hope God will send a few (if not a lot of) good people with a heart for God and the Gospel of Jesus the Christ to this area to do ministry with me or anyone else that has a heart for families and the peoples in these areas. Keep us all in your prayers.
